Dress dreaming - Oscar De La Renta

We're half way through the month and I have to say, I'm tired. Tired of my dresses, tired of Gina's dresses. I find myself wondering if I can get away with a skirt - whether that counts as frock. It doesn't I've been told.
So, today is a day for dreaming - dreaming of dresses I wish I owened and had occasion to wear, but don't. Dresses I covet but will probably never come within a finger tip of, except as I flip lazily through glossy magazines on my balcony in the heat of summer - enjoying a vodka tonic and dreaming of the balls and parties of another time, or another life.
So I thought I share with you a creation by my all time favourite couturier, Oscar De La Renta. Oscar doesn't simply make and design dresses - he brings my girlhood fantasies of cinderella to life.

So, on Sudnay night I went to see Ben Kweller at the Factory Theatre, and in the excitement of it all, I forgot to take a photo of my dress.

Day 1 - Two headless ladies
Frocktober kicked off today with slightly sombre colours to reflect the Sydney weather. Spring had sprung earlier in the week, and legs were shaved, tans applied, in great anticipation for the October First Frock.
Alas, Sydney's sun decided to take an even longer weekend - tans were put away, and opaques came back out to play much to our dismay!
Enough rhyming - fingers crossed for a better showing next week - stay tuned as we continue to Frock Up for Frocktober!

During the month of Frocktober we'll be frocking up in support of the festive fundraising initiative aiming to raise funds for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF).
A striking statistic is that, across Australia, "One woman dies every ten hours from ovarian cancer…for many women with ovarian cancer, the disease is already well advanced when they are first diagnosed”.
Unfortunately, there is currently no screening test for ovarian cancer. Frocktober aims to help improve the outlook for women with the disease by supporting the quest for a suitable early detection test, through fundraising for the OCRF.
Through fun – and sometimes quirky – measures, Frocktober is all about:
• increasing the public's awareness of ovarian cancer and what it is
• promoting women's health & wellbeing
• celebrating the great diversity of shapes, sizes and colours women come in.
Essentially, Frocktober puts forward a challenge to girls, women and interested men far and wide: To don a frock for a day, week, fortnight or a full month during October, and get sponsored for it! It’s not just frocking up though, it’s about creating frocks, sourcing frocks through creative measures and in essence celebrating the frock in all its feminine glory...
Now that you know what we’ll be up to during Frocktober, there are several ways to sponsor us:
• Cash: just fill out the donation form when donating your money.
• On-line payment: visit www.frocktober.org, go to the 'donate' page and include my registration number in the confirmation page.
• Electronic Funds Transfer: Enter '649091' (our registration number) in the 'reference' field from your internet banking service. This will help track your payment.
